The Spanish word for “airplane” is “avion”. Why is the title of today’s post “Avion”? Well, because that’s what this little client told me as he looked up into the sky and lo and behold, there was … un avion! Here is this bundle of smiles and charm, bilingual, TWO year old boy carrying a conversation with me like he’s … five or something. hehe… I wonder if his parents are teachers?

One of the best things about my job is getting to watch a person grow through the years. One of the best compliments I can receive is repeat clients. I’ve been blessed and honored to be able to capture this super sweet kiddo since he was newborn.  Then I got to capture him as he turned one.  Now, he’s two and has grown increasingly cuter and charming by the minute!  And seriously, time flies!  I can’t believe it’s been two years!

Mendoza’s, thank you again… so much!  For trusting me to capture your sweet baby as he grows.  He is an absolute JOY and pleasure to work with.  We had so.much.fun!  :)  Can’t wait til  the next time!

You’re getting married in a what? A BARN??!?

hehe… This was a reaction that quite a few people would have upon learning that this gorgeous couple had booked their day in a … well, barn.

However, set in the outskirts of Atascadero, the scenery was beautiful. Becky & Kevin, along with the help of their family and friends, created the most romantic, beautiful barn wedding I’ve ever seen.

Upon arriving, I couldn’t help but fall in love with all the little details that they so carefully thought out. The Carlton hotel was charming, old town with a modern twist.

Kevin was the epitome of calm answering his beautiful bride to be’s last minute questions of, “What about the ???” “Handled it. Got that. Taken care of…”, were his calm, loving responses. Kevin & Becky are perfect for each other. Completely and madly in love, I feel so blessed to know them and honored that I was able to capture this beautiful day for them.

Congratulation Becky & Kevin!! May you enjoy many, many beautiful years together as husband and wife!

The day was beautiful. Bright, blue sky with big, fluffy, white clouds. The air was thick with anticipation. Thousands of people were waiting to welcome home their loved ones. Seven…. long… lonely months were finally coming to an end. 220 days. It was almost surreal.

Being separated from the one you love is one of the toughest things a person can experience. Choosing to be separated for a great cause… such are the lives of the ones who sign up to serve our country (and the loved ones that are left behind to endure each day as normal as possible.) Each day is a bittersweet, brave choice. You’re proud to serve this beautiful country we live in, yet you miss your loved ones so very much… and you know your loved ones are missing you and worried about you, yet PROUD of your service.

I’ve been blessed to witness the amazing story of Brittany and Andrew. I’ve know Andrew for awhile now, but I met Brittany a couple years ago when she asked me to be the photographer for her wedding… little did I know that I would not only capture their beautiful union, but that I was going to experience a little life journey with them.

It all started with The Happiest Place on Earth…. followed by the union of a Princess and Prince… a little Love in the Rain never hurt anyone… and now this… homecoming!

It was so hard to keep my emotions at bay being all sensitive-like that I am. To witness the pure elation of families reuniting, hugs, kisses, more hugs… makes me appreciate each day with my loved ones (and the sacrifice of the men and women choosing to serve and protect our freedom) so much more. I am so proud of every single service member (and their families!)

I love this couple so much! Brittany has been an inspiration; a true, brave soul that anyone that has the privilege to call her “friend”, is lucky beyond all stars. hehe…
