Flor + Dennis = MARRIED!!

November 29, 2009

The celebration started the night before with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.  Family was joined together and tea and blessings were exchanged as the two families made their union official…

On THE day…

Her eyes popped open to sunshine and palm trees.

His eyes popped open and he thought, “Wow!  This is IT!”

Hearts-a-flutter and goosebumps…

The day had finally came that two would become one.  Mr. Chua would have his Mrs. Chua at last.

The day started off with a hot, blazing sun and small white puffy clouds dotting the sky.  As the beautiful bride and the handsome groom began their preparations for their big moment, neither suspected that gloom was imminent…

As the bridal party began their descent to the wedding area, they couldn’t help but the notice the suddenly gray sky.  Suddenly, there was a race against mother nature to seal wedding vows before the heavens opened up and soaked the Earth with it’s fury.

As each bridesmaid and groomsman took their place, there were tears of joy and happiness for the beautiful couple soon to be Mr. & Mrs.

The moment had arrived for the gorgeous bride to take her place next to her soon-to-be husband.  As he watched her trek through the sand, his love overflowed and his emotion could not be held back.  The tears of happiness he shed were so contagious that they overflowed into the wedding party… Spectators choked on their own emotions and the tears began flowing like fountains.

With an audience of onlookers, the gorgeous bride slowly made her way to take her place.  Her big, beautiful smile lit up the day despite the graying sky.  She held back her own tears as she was told that no bride should begin her marriage in tears… (executed quite excellently I might add.)  :)

As the ceremony wrapped up and the family and friends celebrated with hugs and cheering, it suddenly became very neccessary for everyone to take cover… we all ran for shelter and watched as the wind carried the ocean to crash onto the beach.  The rain tormented the Earth with huge powerful rain drops…

15 minutes after the raging storm, the sun peeked out from behind a cloud and provided a beautiful rainbow as a backdrop for pictures…

:)

Sylvia: love love LOVE these... looks like it was fun..

A soft cool breeze on a warm autumn day.  A sky colored with beautiful shades of blue and dotted with big, fluffy white clouds dancing playfully about.  The atmosphere is calm and peaceful.  A perfect forecast for a fabulous wedding!

As a fly on a wall, you find bridesmaids getting hair wrapped in gigantic curls and getting their faces dolled up with beautiful shades of makeup.  Groomsmen playing poker and laughing at “The Wedding Crashers”.  Giggles and laughter erupting from the bride’s dressing room as the girls crack jokes with one another.  There’s a beautiful little princess twirling about in her tutu as she prepares for her role as the flower girl.  The father of the bride is giving neck massages and adjustments to calm the girls before their walk down the aisle.  Most amazing of all, a bride that is the absolute epitome of calm, cool and collected.  Being organized was key here.  (And I guess getting married to “groomzilla” as the bridesmaids lovingly dubbed the groom doesn’t hurt either…) ;)  As the groom sat in his dressing room going over the tiniest of details, the day was unraveling to become one of the most organized and beautifully planned weddings ever. :)

I should say, Jacqueline and Oliver hold a very dear and special place in my heart.  I met Jacqueline almost a year ago at an event through a friend.  After chatting with her a bit and offering wedding photography services, I remember walking away hoping and praying that they would take a chance with me.  You see, I had a pretty well stocked portrait portfolio but no wedding portfolio whatsoever.  We chatted a couple more times and met once to go over questions and concerns.  Oliver was a very involved groom…  not at all the NID type of groom. You know… ” Not Into Details”?  (from The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez)… ;) Quite the contrary actually.  He was VERY into the details…  :)

I didn’t hear from them for awhile and figured that they had decided to go with someone else.  So you can understand my elation when I got the email from them confirming that they wanted to book ME as their photographer.  As my FIRST officially booked wedding, I am excited to share with you a small peek into their magical day. :)

Jacqueline and Oliver, thank you so much for not only trusting me but inviting me to be a part of your special day… I feel honored and privileged to have been there with you, your family and your friends as we captured your love story.  :)

I’d also like to send a special thanks to Jennifer Williams for being such a FABULOUS assistant… you rock girlie! :)
