Do you remember the excitement of being able to call yourself that?

“Oh yeah… I’m a FRESHMAN. In *HIGH SCHOOL*…”

Junior high behind us, high school before us… what a wonderful feeling of anticipation!

I recently had the pleasure of finishing up a grad session for my gorgeous niece from earlier in the year. Remember her?  She wanted to remember all the things that she did her last year of junior high so we planned a memory session and let me tell you, she rocked it!  100% gorgeous, smart and sensitive, she will be successful in anything she puts her mind to do!  :)

Kickboxer, wakeboarder… and now junior high graduate!  Here are a few images from our session… ENJOY!

Silence is scary…

March 17, 2009

Last week, I awoke to a nightmare.
I sat down with Mr. Mac and he was giving me the silent treatment.
I tried to calmly explain that this was no time for games. We had work to do.
He continued his path of silentness.
I began to get desperate. I tried every troubleshooting method I could to get him to respond.
He stood firm on his stance on silence.
I finally had to enlist the help of the MAC techs at ARRC. I hoped that with a little one on one, they could help me figure out why Mr. Mac was so mad at me.
Turns out, Mr. Mac was in need of some TLC. I was apparently neglecting him and his needs. So much so that he had a mental breakdown.
Luckily for me, the guys at ARRC were able to baby him back to health. Once his new brain was installed, he came out of his silent shell and began to work with me. We were sent home with strict instructions that Mr. Mac was to be tucked in safe and sound at night and that I was wrong to expect him to perform 24/7. He needs his beauty sleep, too you know!

LOL! Seriously though, I did have some trouble with my computer last week in the midst of a few deadlines… I definitely recommend ARRC to anyone with computer issues… They were very understanding and patient with my million questions and phone calls, lol! They had my MAC back to me within 3 days as promised. They were also the ones that helped me out with my horribly traumatic hard drive crash last year… They were able to get ALL of my data back!  2 thumbs up for their customer service! :)  {as a quick side note, I will not be buying any Western Digital hard drives again… BOTH hard drives that crashed were WD’s… blah!}

I feel so blessed to have the very best clients! To those that were waiting on your projects, thank you so much for your understanding and patience. I am back to the grindstone and chugging along my list… orders, proofing and designing!  :)

Just in case you came for a little eye candy today, here are a couple of previews of sessions from the weekend… stay tuned for their bloggity goodness soon! :)

Overachievers anonymous…

February 12, 2009

It’s almost Valentine’s Day.

As a girlfriend, it means you’ll get sweet, romantic gifts from your boyfriend.

As a wife, it means you’ll get flowers or candy and hopefully a card from your husband.

As a mommy and daddy, it means that you’ll get to stay up until 1 a.m. making your kids Valentine’s day cards for 20 something classmates. (Multiply that by 2 and you’ll be making 40… but you can’t forget friends from other classes, past teachers and other staff members so bump that number up to 60…)

Oye.

As I sat here at midnight creating an R2D2 Valentine mailbox, creating Jedi cards, cutting out flowers, threading pixie sticks and hot gluing them all together, I had a conversation with myself…

“Self, why, WHY are you such an overachiever?  You could have went to Target, let the kids pick out a $3 box of cards, handed them stickers and a marker and let them go to town.  But NOOOOOOOO, you had to overachieve (again) and make a grandiose production of creating a fabulous presentation.”

I’m not sure why exactly I do this.  I’ve done this for every project since I was… tiny.  I get maddening brain storms in the middle of the night, a night or two before deadline, and I work furiously to make it happen.  But not just any kind of project… I’m the type that has to go above and beyond expectations.  I put my heart and soul into the project.  I’ve been made fun of, ridiculed and harassed (lovingly) by my family and friends who like to hate on my overachieving abilities.  All I have to say to that is : “Don’t hate!”  ;P  LOL!

I’d like to thank Jose Zepeda for putting up with my craziness and indulging my craft.  He helped me make the R2D2 Valentine box after much pleading, begging and fit throwing.

Nancy Latham: Those V-day cards are awesome!!! Very cute and creative.

Christy: What awesome Valentines - and mom and dad for making them extra special!

Cynthia: WOW! those are amazing!
