As the thunder rolls….

August 27, 2008

You can hear it.

You can smell the threat of rain.

You can see the black cloud as it looms nearby.

You can feel the static of the electricity threatening to strike out of that cloud at any moment…

So what do you do?

Metaphorically speaking.

Have you ever had “one of those days?”  (Or weeks… or months for that matter?)  You try as hard as you can to see the good in all things and look for the sunshine but that darn cloud is following you along.

Black Cloud:  My poor baby girl bumped her mouth over the weekend and lost her crown.

Sunshine:  She’s a trooper and didn’t even cry.  Nor is she self-conscious about it.  She handled the dentist appointment like a pro and we are now waiting for her crown to be re-done this weekend.

Here she is after getting her “glamour” treatment at Libby Lu a couple weeks ago…

Black Cloud:  The baby has officially hit his terrible two’s… 3 months early!  Classic behavior - throwing tantrums, screaming on the top of his lungs, throwing himself on the floor, hitting big sis and big bros out of anger…. *sigh*

Sunshine:  He can make me melt with his scrunch face and silly smile.  :)  Even though his tantrums are tough, he’s a sweetie and he will only be this size for a limited time…. I’m going to enjoy every moment!  (Starting right now during naptime! LOL!) ;)

Who can resist this face????

Black Cloud:  My AC went out in my vehicle.  Um, do you know how HOT it is outside?  It’s supposed to be over 100° this entire week.

Sunshine:  I’ve got plenty of it!  lol!  I can roll my windows down and the kids and I can sing on the tops of our voices!  The favorite this week?  Camp Rock… that is one rockin’ soundtrack!  lol!

So the point to the post is this… when you feel sick and tired of being sick and tired… there is only one way to look.  UP.  Things can only get better right?  See the light in the darkness and go for it!  While we can’t choose what may come our way, we can choose our ATTITUDE and PERSPECTIVE and be happy with what we have.  I thank God every day for blessing me… :)

I was watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding the other night and heard this quote…

“Don’t let your past dictate who you are but let it be a part of who you will become…”

Is that great or what?  Too many times we try to “forget” the past and push away any bad memories we may have.  How unfortunate that we do that though.  Our character is built upon hard times.  If we strip that away, we don’t grow.  LEARN from your mistakes… and go FORWARD embracing your new found wisdom. :)

No pity parties allowed!  ;)  God is good!  I AM TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!

Have a wonderfully blessed day!

First day of school ‘08

August 18, 2008

New clothes? CHECK

New shoes? CHECK

Backpack? CHECK

Lunch? CHECK…

The first day of school was one of excitement and apprehension.  The children awoke early and began the ritual of preparing for a day of learning and fun.  You could feel the nervousness as each one ran around the house getting ready.  One starting Junior High… another beginning first grade… one giddy with tremendous happiness as he starts his school career as a kindergartner…  and one 20 month old lonely as his big brothers and sister are now too busy to play.  The feeling is bittersweet.  The house is quiet as the baby naps.  I get to enjoy my coffee without having to answer a thousand questions or calm a tantrum.  I can sit and compose a blog post without losing my train of thought.  Wow.  Bliss.  lol!  But yet I sit here on the verge of tears knowing that our lazy days are over.  Proud that my babies willingly go to school yet  somewhat sad that they don’t need mommy anymore.  They grow so fast!  My oldest told me this morning that he felt like he was going to puke.  He was so nervous!  How and when in the world did my baby become a 7th grader?!  Remember your first day of junior high?  Gosh, I feel nervous for him! lol!

I leave you now with a few quick snapshots that I took with my cell phone camera because in my normal rushed Marsha fashion, I ran out of the house without grabbing my camera bag.  *sigh*.  AND to top it off, I had to park 2 blocks away from the elementary school because EVERYONE and their grandma wants to drive their kid to school on the first day… which made me have to enlist the help of MoMo (my sis) to go get my car and take my oldest to school because there was such a traffic jam in the kindergarten room.  :(  So I didn’t get any photos of my oldest  ”baby”.  I’ll have to take “after the first day of school” photos, lol! ;)  Enjoy!

…and have a WONDERFUL and BLESSED day!

Eric Lee: I finally decided to write a comment on your blog. I just wanted to say good job. I really enjoy reading your posts.

Cynthia: what a sweet post! And no one would ever in a million years guess you had 4 kids w/ one in 7th grade! you go girl!

:)  I hope I fixed all the bugs.  PHP and coding is not as scary and hard as I thought it was!  A bit intimidating at first but manageable, lol!

I want to thank those that have left me love and sent me congratulatory and encouraging emails.  It truly means a lot to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. :)

I’d like to leave you with a fun photo of my middle son….

If you know him, you know that this is sooo HIM.  lol!  He actually requested that I take a photo of his mohawk.  Or “fauxhawk” if that’s what it’s called, lol!  And good thing I did… it got cut off this week.  Oh well, it was an experience.  :)  We tried to let the boys grow out their hair over summer break but it got to be too much of a nuisance.  Can you believe that school starts in less than two weeks???!  YIKES!

Time flies… :(  Cherish your loved ones!  :)  Give them all a HUGE hug tonight…. :)

Have a GREAT and BLESSED day!
